History: Phoenician glass refers to glass objects produced in the ancient Phoenician civilization, a prosperous maritime culture that developed in the coastal regions of the eastern Mediterranean from about 1500 BC to 300 BC. Renowned for their maritime trade and craftsmanship, the Phoenicians were master glassmakers, contributing significantly to the development of glass art.
Phoenician glass is characterized by its bright colors, complex patterns and exceptional craftsmanship. Artisans used various techniques, such as glassblowing, to create delicate objects such as vessels, beads and decorative elements. The distinctive hues of Phoenician glass were obtained by adding metal oxides during the glassmaking process, producing shades of blue, green and amber.
