Handwoven eri silk scarf, Burgundy and White
Handwoven and hand-spun eri silk scarf. Made in a simple check pattern, it combines everyday ease of use with traditional know-how.
Each scarf is made by artisans in the Assam region of India, using ancestral weaving techniques. The silk yarns are dyed with natural plant-based dyes, which gives the color depth and slight variations from one piece to the next.
Eri silk has a soft, slightly textured feel and offers warmth without being heavy, which makes it suitable for every season. The scarf is finished with fringes.
Storie works with contemporary Indian designers who draw on their cultural heritage to keep craft know-how alive and evolving.
We chose to work with eri silk for the singular beauty of this natural fiber, with its soft, slightly textured feel and matte look. It is rare and generally used in small batches, as producing it is a craft in its own right.
Handwoven, eri silk gives light warmth while staying breathable, which makes it pleasant in every season. Spun from open cocoons, it is often called "peace silk", because it is produced without harming the silkworm that makes it.
