Traditional Palestinian embroidery known as tatreez, stitched by hand, has long been used to decorate Palestinian clothing. It tells the stories of lost towns and villages, old customs, past lives and resistance.
Product: Hand-embroidered cushion cover 40x40 cm. Bought from a women's embroidery cooperative in East Jerusalem. Embroidered on cotton with an off-white synthetic fabric cushion backing.
Traditional Palestinian embroidery is now on UNESCO's cultural heritage list, and there is an effort to spark interest in this craft among younger generations.
The designs are adapted from traditional Palestinian dresses and reflect the heritage of the different regions of Palestine.
