Mochi blanket, hand-embroidered No.14
Product: this exquisite contemporary embroidery is made by hand by a community of Mochi women in northern India. Each piece is totally unique. The patterns, colors and composition are entirely the artisan's creation, and we choose the finest pieces for our customers around the world.
These textiles are beautiful as bedspreads for a single or double bed. They can be used as wall hangings, throws or even as curtains to add a touch of color and something a little bohemian to your decor.
Maker: the Mochis are a large caste of artisans in India, originally specialized in making saddles and leather goods. Over the past 350 years, they have become well-known embroiderers across the subcontinent. Traditionally, men work the leather, and women decorate it.
The Mochis are famous for their exquisite chain stitch embroidery, made with a fine needle fitted with a wooden handle that has a small notch just above the tip, which forms a hook and creates very fine loops.
Size 150 x 230 cm
Material Cotton embroidered on cotton
Care Dry clean only. We are not fans of dry cleaning, but these pieces are too delicate to be washed. The embroidery on the cotton is heavy and could be damaged by washing.
