Craft: these cushions have been made by a group of designers and artisans dedicated to reviving ancestral techniques of vegetable dying in Bangladesh. A social enterprise focused on craft heritage but also artisan welfare and the promotion of sustainable, ecological practices in the textile industry. All dyes are sourced locally and making the most of use waste products (such as fruit peels and tree bark) or by products to create the colour.

Colour: Indigo (Indigofera Tinctoria)
One of the most recognisable dyes on the planet, deep blue indigo . Native to Bengal, the Indigofera Tinctoria plant is grown across the country to improve the soil composition in between harvests. The leaves of the shrub are soaked and fermented to produce a wide spectrum of shades, from deep green to the prized radiant indigo blue. Known as Neel in the sub-continent, historically the pigment was used in painting and as a fabric dye for the garb of armed forces and important personalities. Different recipes are used to create various shades of blue.
