A soft ecru cotton, handwoven, with wide ochre chevron stripes, edged with a touch of moss green and beige. A beautiful blend of natural tones.

A perfect touch of texture for any room, it can be used as a bedspread or a sofa throw.

Khadi cotton is both hand-spun and handwoven, which gives a softer, finer fabric. Our throws are very soft, woven by a community of women in northern India.

Craft: Khadi is made by hand in Indian homes, from cotton, silk or wool yarn spun on a wheel, or "charkha". It is woven with great respect for the environment, using few resources such as water or electricity, and it is strong and durable. Khadi is a unique Indian fabric, valued not only because it is made entirely by hand, but also for its cultural significance.

This textile tradition was revived by Mahatma Gandhi, who saw in this fabric a tool to bring financial independence to Indians across the country who would practice this craft at home. In his own words:

"The spinning wheel represents to me the hope of the masses. The masses lost their freedom, such as it was, with the disappearance of the Charkha. The Charkha supplemented the agriculture of the villagers and gave it dignity."

All handmade textiles should be washed at 30 degrees on a delicate cycle or by hand.
