Baby Bird Quilt, hand stitched

Produit : Delicately hand embroidered cotton quilt, known as a "baby kantha", often given as a gift to child or new born baby.

The quilt is embroidered using the prized Nakshi kantha technique, hand made in Jashore Bangladesh. Naturally dyed threads on soft, strong untreated cotton, backed in linen. Envelope style cushion, made in our Paris atelier.

Craft : "Nakshi Kantha" is an ancestral embroidery technique from the Bengal region of India & Bangladesh , and the northeastern Indian states of West Bengal and Tripura.

These delicate designs are embroidered by women who are part of organised groups of

rural artisans across Bangladesh, helping marginalised artisans access fair prices and international markets in order to promote this valuable craft heritage.

Storie is very proud to be working with an organisation that is working to advocate the use of traditional natural dyes and this precious savoir fair. They have focused on the sustainable development of natural textiles since 1990, and are accredited by the WFTO, which regularly monitors the working processes of the groups.
