Traditional Palestinian embroidery known as tatreez, stitched by hand, is traditionally used to decorate Palestinian clothing. It tells the stories of lost towns and villages, old customs, past lives and resistance.
Product: The embroidered area measures 35 cm x 35 cm and can be framed as a wall artwork.
Traditional Palestinian embroidery is now on the UNESCO cultural heritage list, and there is an effort to spark interest in this craft among younger generations.
Artisans: These pieces were bought in a fabric shop in Bethlehem. The seller told us they had been made by a group of women in Gaza, but we need to verify their origin. Feel free to let us know if you recognize this work.
