In May, Storie welcomes to Paris designer Beshlie McKelvie, who has created a poetic collection of summer clothing for nomadic women. These are superb handmade garments in very light, cool fabrics.

Like all of Beshlie's creations, the Nomadic collection follows a fair trade approach, with small-scale production by carefully selected NGOs and family cooperatives that Beshlie works with directly.

For many years, Beshlie has worked in partnership with Indian artisans, and she returned to India with her daughter for the Nomadic collection.

In India, stamp printing on textiles is a very old tradition that came into its own from the 12th century.

The Nomadic collection is hand printed on cotton and silk delicately handwoven in India.

Our Jamdani Dupatta scarves are handwoven with a blend of 65% cotton and 35% silk. An incredibly soft fabric, with a border of delicately embroidered small triangles and hand-knotted pom poms.

The Jamdani Dupatta was the favorite textile of the Mughal Indians of Central Asia. It is the finest and most delicate of Indian cottons. By choosing to buy these fabrics, you help preserve an ancestral traditional craft and encourage artisans to keep producing it. In sustainable fashion, handweaving is an ecological textile that saves energy and water compared with industrial textiles. Today, handloom weaving remains one of the biggest traditional family industries in India, and each region produces work with its own character.
